"A Letter to Margaret Mahy", 2007

I guess this is really just a fan letter to the author I like best - if for no other reason (although there are lots) then just because it was her writing which inspired me to go from being a reader to a writer myself. I wrote a couple of essays about her work, and in this comics-style letter I'm really just telling her about what I've been doing, along with making a few references ("Saved by Art!") to her own work.

I did get to meet Margaret Mahy - I went to New Zealand to give a little talk at a symposium celebrating her accomplishments! It was wonderful.

Margaret Mahy passed away in 2012. Here's a more recent comic strip I wrote to remember her and celebrate her birthday on March 21st, 2013.
