"Crossovers and Changeovers: Reading Lynn Johnston through Margaret Mahy", 2007

I like illustrated stories. And so of course I like illustrated academic essays, too. When I had the chance to write one, I did! I wrote about the Canadian comics creator Lynn Johnston and New Zealand's author Margaret Mahy, and a few things I thought they had in common. I presented my paper at a conference about comics in Gainesville, Florida. You can read the essay (and look at the illustrations) here, but here's the conclusion, which I wrote in comics format.
